PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida—LactaLogics, a company focused on human milk-based nutrition for at-risk infants, today announced the appointment of Dr. Jonathan Palma to its Clinical and Scientific Advisory Board (CSAB).
“Dr. Palma is board certified in both neonatal-perinatal medicine and clinical informatics. This is a unique combination which embodies how we utilize technology to provide babies with a reliable, safe, and abundant source of human milk. His guidance, as we continue to innovate, will be invaluable,” said Glenn Snow, CEO and co-founder of LactaLogics. “And as a Florida-based company, it’s especially exciting to welcome a native Floridian to our CSAB.”
Dr. William Rhine, neonatologist and chairman of the LactaLogics CSAB, added, “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Palma since he first came to Stanford in 2005. I have always been impressed with his caring and thoughtful approach in supporting babies and their families in their NICU journey. We were so grateful to leverage his medical informatics expertise when implementing the electronic medical record in the NICU environment. We will need his data analytics skills to better understand the clinical impact of nutritional advances such as those that LactaLogics will be bringing to market.”
Dr. Palma is currently a neonatologist at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, the largest NICU in Florida, with an administrative appointment as a clinical informaticist at Orlando Health. Previously, he was at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health as a neonatologist and Medical Director of Clinical Informatics Innovation, as well as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Neonatology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
“There is no gentler, safer, or complete source of nutrition for the growth and development of infants than human milk. I am excited to help make human milk products more readily available to all infants, from critically ill premature babies in the NICU to term and near-term infants of mothers who desire to breastfeed,” shared Dr. Palma. “We can then combine this expanding availability of human milk with data collection, analysis, and workflow integration to continue to help babies, families, and health systems.”
The son of a NICU nurse and a neonatologist, Dr. Palma graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine after attending Davidson College. His pediatrics residency, neonatology fellowship, and master’s degree in biomedical informatics were completed at Stanford University.
