About us

We’re committed to the world’s smallest, most vulnerable patients.

Changing the world, one drop at a time

In 2012 we discovered that almost all premature infants in hospital NICUs do not receive the lifesaving benefits of an exclusive human milk diet.

A commonly accepted belief is that human milk is expensive and in short supply, but we continue to be overwhelmed by the presence of moms with excess milk who want to help babies in need. We set out to find a solution that connected these moms to premature and at-risk infants in need, changing lives forever.

Mission

LactaLogics is a company focused on human milk-based nutrition for premature and at-risk infants

Our mission is to combine innovative technology and holistic donor care so all infants can have access to an exclusive human milk diet.

history

Rethinking human milk processing
from the ground up

From day one, our goal is to get more babies on an exclusive human milk diet.
We’re proud of the path we’ve taken, combining the latest technology with holistic donor care, aiming to provide babies with a reliable, safe, and abundant source of human milk.
The future of neonatal nutrition is now.
LactaLogics is founded

The journey to provide premature babies with a reliable, safe, and abundant source of human milk begins.

How can human milk become more affordable for hospitals? Can milk waste in NICUs be avoided? Is there a way for babies to go home with a supply of milk, so they don't have to be switched to formula so early?

Multiple patents filed

Positioning LactaLogics to be a category leader, our Core Processing and Fortification patents are filed.

Processing at Tetra Pak Pilot Plant

Utilizing Tetra Pak’s aseptic ultra-high-temperature facility, we processed our human milk products at commercial scale three times.

In our first run, we validated Gentle-UHT as able to offer superior retention of proteins, immune factors, and HMOs while protecting the milk against dangerous bacteria, viruses, molds, and spores. We created flexible calorie and protein amounts in our second run, allowing us to move forward with our in-hospital and outpatient pilot programs.

Our third run further pushed our methodologies in collecting breast milk from donors in a way that is safe and supported, as well as how we processed the milk.

Because these products were processed in an FDA-approved plant, they were able to be utilized in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and outpatient pilot programs.

Implemented donor, collection, & testing process

As we validated our processing and fortification patents, we also optimized how to best prioritize moms who have excess milk. We developed our holistic donor care approach, which includes our Fast-Reimburse Program.

Our commitment to holistic donor care was defined while streamlined reimbursement was established, ensuring prompt payment to donors.

Pilot program at Renown Regional Medical Center

We launched our year-long pilot program in Renown Regional Medical Center Level III NICU.

Feeding over 22,000 oz of Gentle-UHT human milk to very low birth weight (VLBW) patients, we validated how NICUs can save money and limit waste.

Clinical & Scientific Advisory Board is formed

We believe that our formulations should be optimized by doctors, researchers, and dietitians, not companies. Our CSAB ensures LactaLogics remains focused on outcomes.

The five-member board is chaired by Dr. William Rhine and includes Bruce German, Ph.D., Dr. Kushal Bhakta, Dr. Camilia R. Martin, Dr. Steven McElroy, and Dr. Jonathan Palma. Together, they bring extensive experience, dedicated to making human milk-based products more readily available to all infants.

Proud to be a NEC Society Champion

Necrotizing enterocolitis, or NEC, affects vulnerable infants during their first weeks and months of life. We believe that a world without NEC is not only possible, but something we actively work towards.
We are honored to support the NEC Society, along with other industry leaders and organizations, as we come together to improve outcomes for our most vulnerable infants.
